Rehau creates BIM models for district-heating pipework

Rehau has created BIM (Building Information Modelling) models for its district-heating pipework ahead of the deadline in April 2016 for BIM Level 2. BIM models are available for the Rauvitherm and Rauthermex pre–insulated polymer pipework systems.

Steve Richmond, business team manager with Rehau, says, ‘We’re very keen though to stay close to specifiers and consultants throughout the process so that the focus remains on optimising heat networks to ensure they are as efficient as possible. Pipe materials, sizes, layouts and even installation methods can have a significant impact on the overall efficiency of any design scheme, so we will continue to provide help and advice on how to minimise capital costs and at the same time optimise performance.’

The BIM models are part of REHAU’s comprehensive package of support for specifiers of its systems, which also includes specification phrases, district heating workshops, design courses and a CIBSE-approved CPD on district heating and heat networks.
