Wilo meets 2017 target

Wilo, pump

Wilo’s Stratos Giga high-efficiency glanded pump exceeds IE4 efficiency standards, so it meets EU requirements coming into force in 2017. Applications include heating, cold water and cooling. These pumps are targeted at projects where energy-saving pumps will pay significant dividends over a typical 15-year lifecycle. Payback is typically within two years.

This pump has a 4.5 kW motor and give a maximum head of 52 m and maximum flow rate of35 m3/h.

Compared with an aging uncontrolled pump, this pump could save over £70 000 in electricity costs over its life and 8 t of CO2 a year — based on the Blue Angel load profile.

The efficiency of these pumps is due to the combination of new hydraulics and a highly efficient drive concept using EC motors. The hydraulics are optimally adjusted to the motor technology. The efficiency of the 4.5 kW motor is up to 94%.

Wilo’s managing director in the UK, Gary Mannus, explains that 85% of the lifecycle costs of a pump are due to energy and that cost can be reduce by up to 70% using a Wilo-Stratos Giga.
