IBD delivers renewables for self-build home
IBD has designed an energy-efficient heating and ventilating system based on two Daikin 16 kW heat pumps for a large self-build residential property comprising some 550 m2 of living accommodation new Crowcombe Heathfield in Somerset. IBD is a Daikin Renewables Partner and was appointed for its extensive experience in domestic and commercial heating and air-conditioning systems, air-source heat pumps and underfloor-heating technology.
The installation consists of two 16 kW air-source heat pumps and two 300 l hot-water cylinders, each with three solar panels. They provide heating to an underfloor heating system that includes 2.5 km of heating pipe running throughout the property. Programmable thermostats with LCD displays and an IBD central control system ensure that the system always operates at peak performance and efficiency.
A whole-house mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery has also been installed. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery greatly reduces heat losses and is also essential in this type of home, which is built using structural insulated panels (SIP).
