Looking forward to a positive future for renewable energy — Chris Davis of Dimplex Renewables.

Dimplex Renewable division has reported a quadrupling in year-on-year sales, with increasing demand for renewable technology from the domestic, social housing and commercial sectors. The company’s wide range of products covers air- and ground-source heat pumps, solar-thermal water heating, SmartRad low-temperature fan convectors, solar PV and the EC-Eau range of efficient renewables - compatible hot-water cylinders.

The company has invested heavily in UK-based R&D and manufacturing facilities. Despite recent changes to the Feed-in Tariff for solar PV and uncertainty over the Renewable Heat Incentive, Dimplex remains positive about the continued growth of the UK renewables sectors.

Chris Davis, business-development director, says, ‘Even with the new Feed-in Tariff rates due to come into effect from August, solar PV still remains an attractive propositions for households and businesses. The new structure provides a degree of clarity and stability to the scheme following a few months of uncertainty.

‘In addition, there is a huge increase in renewable-heat technologies such as heat pumps and solar thermal, especially as oil prices continue to rise. We are also working closely with Government on development of the domestic RHI stream, due for launch next year.’

The non-domestic phase of the RHI is already in operation, offering support to a wide variety of commercial and multi-dwelling communal heat-pump systems, with the domestic phase expected to come into effect in summer 2013 to give a further boost to demand for renewable heating.
