Grundfos takes to skies to present new pump

Grundfos pumps

The build-up to the UK launch of the much publicised Grundfos Magna3 highly efficient range of circulators saw consultants and distributor partners take to the skies at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire last month. And take to the skies they did, with the opportunity to fly in light aircraft, small helicopters, vintage aircraft and, for the lucky few, sitting right next to members of The Blades aerobatics team in Extra 300 high-performance aircraft. A Spitfire also performed a dramatic aerobatic display.

Back on the ground, Grundfos managing Peter Reynolds explained that the Magna3 is the outcome of a Eu110 million investment in response to the Energy using Products Directive, an important stage of which comes into effect in January 2013.

These circulators will become available in Germany in August, where they are manufactured. As production is ramped up, they will become available in other countries — including the UK in November.

Magna3 circulators, with heads up to 18 m and flows up to 70 m3/h, are much more than pumps. Not only do they offer energy savings of up to 75% compared to an average D labelled circulator, but they also incorporate a host of other features within the pump body.

For example, these circulators can also be heat meters — with the simple addition of an external temperature sensor.

Another control function enables the maximum flow to be set, reducing the need for balancing valves and improving energy efficiency by eliminating the pressure loss introduced by a balancing valve.
