ErP Directive for fans

With the EU ErP Directive coming into effect at the beginning of 2013, ebm-papst has a simple Q&A on its web site about how it affects fans and motors. The directive affects axial, centrifugal (forward and backward curved), cross-flow and diagonal fans with a power input from 125 W to 500 kW. It is the responsibility of the fan manufacturer to assess its own products to determine if they pass or fail. Products from ebm-papst have been compliant for many years.

The regulations apply to the combination of fan impeller and motor, including external-rotor-motor designs and separate impellers and motors with the fan driven by a shaft or drive belt.

You can access the Q&A from the URL below, followed by ‘Fans, motors and control systems', followed by ‘ErP information’ in the left-hand column.
