Marshall-Tufflex Powerpoles played an important role in the refurbishment of operating theatres at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The refurbishment of seven operating theatres at Plymouth NHS Trust’s Derriford Hospital includes Marshall-Tufflex Powerpoles as the specified ceiling-mounted power-delivery system. They were selected for ease of installation, aesthetics and trusted brand name.

This acute general hospital offers a full range of services to around 450 000 people.

M&E consultant Hoare Lea required pendant-style containment for the delivery of additional data cabling to expand and co-ordinate existing services. The practice’s Steven Libralon said, ‘We chose Marshall Tufflex as it is a proven specified brand and we have used Powerpoles successfully before. We also chose them for ease of installation, technical suitability and neatness of profile.’

Newey & Eyre of Plymouth supplied the ceiling-mounted inverted hanging Powerpoles in 1100 mm lengths for installation by MITIE Engineering.

An important benefit of Powerpoles is avoiding the trailing cables associated with wall-mounted systems, an important safety consideration in operating theatres.
