Recolight achieves national acclaim

Recolight, the UK’s WEEE compliance scheme for the lighting industry has been named ‘Recycling and waste management business of the year’ at the National Recycling Awards. These awards recognise excellence in all parts of the waste hierarchy and in all sections of industry. Successful entrants have to demonstrate effective energy strategy, tangible improvement, innovative and creative solutions, and a strong business case.

The Recolight scheme was set up five years ago and has funded the recycling of over 125 million lamps since July 2007. the scheme has over a hundred members. There are 1140 collection points for business, of which over 340 are available for any business to use free of charge. About a hundred ad hoc collections are made each month from re-lamping projects.

There are also over 800 collection points for consumers.
