Toshiba incentives put stress on the practical

Toshiba, air conditioning, VRF

Toshiba Air Conditioning has launched a major initiative to improve skill levels and raise installation standards among contractors. It includes a training programme and a scheme to equip installers with state-of-the-art installation tools and commissioning equipment.

The programme of practical training modules for installers and contractors has been devised by the company’s leading trouble shooter Andie Ellmers (product and training manager), supported by David Thomas (senior technical engineer). The course will provide the theoretical and practical skills required for all the main categories of equipment.

The training modules will be available at 10 training centres. A new centre is planned for Manchester, and future expansion is planned for East Kilbride in Scotland.

Toshiba is also launching a scheme to enable engineers to acquire the latest tools and commissioning aids free of charge. The tools are offered to those purchasing Toshiba VRF systems as part of its installer incentive programme.

The company observes that manufacturers’ incentive schemes have generally in recent years tended to put the emphasis on consumer goods such as televisions and DVD players. UK commercial director David Dunn says, ‘We believe the time has come to start putting solid, practical investment back into companies in order to support our futures.’
