Trane launches HVAC thermography service

Trane’s thermography service can identify hidden problems in a chilled-water system to improve overall HVAC system performance. This predictive service uses infra-red thermal imaging to detect and diagnose the thermal emissions of components in the chilled-water system. An increase in temperature could suggest electrical and mechanical issues that could lead to component failure, unplanned outages and safety issues.

Surveys are carried out at intervals determined by customer and system needs. A Trane technician takes thermal images of the electrical and mechanical components of the chilled-water system while it is operating. New images are compared with previous images, and possible reasons for any anomalies suggested. Customers will receive a report detailing recommended repairs or improvements to avoid system failures and optimise the reliability of the system.
