Panasonic develops sophisticated heat-pump management

Control, Heat pump, Panasonic

Panasonic’s Heat Pump Manager (HPM) is part of a new generation of smart controllers for eco-efficient heating. The HPM is a versatile stand-alone controller for heating and domestic hot water and is available with or without a built-in display.

HPM is described as one of the most advanced heating-control accessories to be supplied for air-to-water heat pumps. It brings together many facets of a heating system to provide centralised control of heating and/or hot water. There are wired and wireless versions and an advanced touch-screen display.

Up to three air-to-water heat pumps can be controlled in a cascade system, with each system supplying one or two zones. SolarPV panels can be integrated — as well as many other functions.

Built-in functionalities include two mixed heating circuits and a floor-screed dry program. Control can be cascade or bivalent, with automatic changeover between heating and cooling. There is an internal energy manager and trend logging. DHW can be given priority, and control is web-based.

HPM is set up via the Panasonic web site, which simplifies set-up and programming. Simply entering the serial number enables the system to understand which model is being used. Following simple on-screen diagrams and selecting the variables relevant to a system enables the software to automatically adjust the programming to suit the installation.

The software is supplied with up to 160 pre-programmed applications/systems diagrams, which will automatically set the required variables with no additional programming required.

A web browser provides access to a wealth of statistics, including energy-consumption management, alarm handling and maintenance.
