S&S puts safety on the menu in hotel kitchen

S&S, kitchen, gas safety interlock
Safety for staff in this hotel kitchen in the Lake District is provided by gas-interlock products from S&S Northern.

Gas interlock products from S&S Northern have been installed as part of the new kitchen installation for Sharrow Bay Hotel in the Lake District, recently bought by Dragon’s Den celebrity James Khan. This luxury boutique country house hotel has views of Lake Ullswater and an internationally acclaimed 2AA Rosette Kitchen.

The kitchen equipment was supplied by Harmony Business & Technology of Kendal. Service manager Jim Scott says, ‘We always recommend S&S Northern gas-interlock products to our customers because of the company’s professional and responsive service and excellent quality products.’

Following a site visit, S&S recommended the installation of a Merlin 1650 gas interlock with a Merlin CO2 detector.

The CO2 detector enables the kitchen to be used for up to 24 h if there is an issue with a fan. If the CO2 level reaches 5000 ppm, which is considered unsafe for kitchen staff, the CO2 detector goes into alarm, and the gas valve is closed automatically.
