Grundfos Pumps, water booster, water boosting

Grundfos Pumps has delivered a tailor-made water-boosting system for 8 Canada Square in London’s Canary Wharf, the global headquarters of HSBC Group since it was completed in 2002. This 45-storey building was designed by Norman Foster’s team and at 200 m high is the second-tallest building in Canary Wharf. The system replaces one that was starting to experience problems, and Grundfos worked with Vear M&E Services to develop the new solution.

Engineering challenges included replacing 40 bar pumps, including related vessels and control panel, in a very confined plant room — the pumps had only 10 cm headroom clearance. In addition , the building had to remain fully operational.

The solution incorporated five 25 bar CR 32 pumps. Following installation, the Grundfos service team stayed on site for 48 h to ensure there were no issues.
