Durapipe SuperFlo serves new student accommodation

Providing cold-water-services in this student accommodation in Glasgow is Durapipe SuperFlo pipework in sizes up to 110 mm.

Durapipe SuperFlo pipework has been installed at one of Scotland’s largest regeneration projects to provide cold-water services for student accommodation providing 588 beds. The £200 million Collegelands development consists of around 100 000 m2 of space and includes a mix of offices, a hotel, multi-storey car park, student accommodation, residential units and retail space.

Selected in sizes up to 110 mm, SuperFlo is used to transport chilled water from the main water-storage tanks in the basement and distribute it throughout the building to each flat.

The pipework was specified by contractor Vallectrics, which had previously used the system, for its proven track record and ease of installation — including not requiring hot works. It is also light to handle, helping to significantly reduce overall labour time and costs.

Wayne Morgan of Vallectrics said, ‘We have used SuperFlo on previous projects, and it has always been quick and easy to install — as well as providing exceptional long-term performance capabilities.’
