Hamworthy boilers scale new heights

Hamworthy Heating, boiler, space heating
Heating for a 19-storey residential block in north London is now provided by two steel-shell boilers from Hamworthy Heating.

Two Ensbury boilers from Hamworthy Heating have been installed to replacing existing boilers for a 19-storey residential building in Islington, London. They each have an output of 510 kW and will deliver heating for the 108 dwellings. They have matched Riello RS modulating burners using natural gas.

CBS Maintenance Services installed these steel-shell low-temperature boilers at ground level because of their weight, along with a floor-standing Chesil pressurisation unit and expansion vessel to maintain the correct pressure for water to reach the highest radiator. The previous boilers were in a rooftop plant room.

Because the boilers are in a residential area, the flue had to run the full height of the building. The Midtherm combined flue with draught stabiliser has twin-wall insulation to maintain the internal stack temperature and ensure the exposed surfaces are safe to touch. The flue was powder coated to blend in with the exterior of the building.
