Ice-rink chiller recovers heat for swimming pool

Bitzer,, compressor, heat recovery, ice rink

The refurbishment of the Link Centre Ice Arena in Swindon includes heat recovery from the refrigeration plant to help warm the centre and provide heat for the swimming pool. With access for a packaged system not being possible, G&O Refrigeration specified a customised chiller system based on two Bitzer compact screw compressors with frequency inverters to closely match output to demand.

These screw compressors are particularly compact, significantly reducing the physical dimensions of the chiller.

The customised chiller was built at G&O Refrigeration’s premises in Bedford before being delivered in four segments to the Link Centre.

James Ogden of G&O said, ‘Bitzer’s technical support for this project and delivery timings were very good. We in turn were able to deliver and install the chiller exactly as specified.’
