Ultra-sonic sensors can control lighting

Steinel’s Control Pro range of ultra-sonic sensors use a frequency of 40 kHz to detect the smallest of movements in a space. Moving objects change the frequency of the sound, which is interpreted as movement. The ultra-sonic waves envelop objects such as computer monitors, desk screens and tables, as opposed to penetrating them, making possible very sensitive detection of movement.

Detected motion can be used to switch on lights, making them particularly suitable for open-plan offices — especially if people are desk based or make only small movements while working. The sensors can identify movement, even if there is no line of sight between the sensor and the person.

The Control PRO US 360 sensor has 360° cover over a 36 m2 presence zone.

For corridors the Control PRO Dual US and Single US sensors have a 20 m range. The Dual US can detect motion in both directions and also ‘see’ round corners.

The Control Pro DualTech combines infra-red and ultra-sonic detection in a single detection with 360° detection over an area of 36 m2.
