Metsec cable management reaches new heights

Metsec Cable Management, The Shard, cable tray, trunking, ladder rack,

Metsec cable-management products are providing a versatile solution for distributing the cables that service the Shrangri-La Hotel inside The Shard in London. A mix of Metsec trunking, ladder rack, cable tray and channel distribute service cables for HVAC and lighting throughout the hotel’s circular corridors on 15 floors across levels 34 to 52 of the building.

Sean Fuell, project with M&E contractor Briggs & Forrester, explained. ‘We were recommended Metsec cable-management projects by distributor Newey & Eyre. The products were not over-engineered and struck the right balance between spec and price.

From floor to floor, the tapering form of the building increasingly restricts the space available to manoeuvre and install materials on site. Sean Fuell comments, ‘The installation of the cable support and distribution system was challenging, not least because access for deliveries was restricted and storage for building products was unavailable in and around this tight site.’

John Hillier, sales director with Metsec Cable Management says, ‘Finding our cable-management solution used in what has probably been one of the most impressive building projects in modern UK construction history is a real compliment and shows that our cable-management solutions are versatile and efficient on major contracts.’
