Hoval renews ventilation for swimming pool

Hoval RoofVent units that had been operating since the 1990s for the swimming pool at Moulsham High School in Chelmsford have been replaced — with RoofVent units. The new units provide heating and ventilation with heat recovery and were specified by Archer Building Consultancy. The high-efficiency heat exchanger provides up to 84% heat recovery.

The RoofVent units will run almost constantly to prevent condensation on the wall of the pool hall. Hovel’s vortex air distributor will minimise air-flow rates, and therefore energy consumption, while ensuring sufficient ventilation. The control strategy is demand led.

The installation was carried out by SES Mechanical Services of Colchester working with its sub-contractor MFD Ductwork Installations.

Barrie Mortimer of MFD said, ‘We involved Hoval very early in the project, and their input played a key role in its smooth delivery. As well as carrying out an initial site survey and supporting us throughout the project, they also commissioned the units and provided training to school staff on how to control the units to achieve optimum performance.’
