Hospital exploits benefits of rigid pipe-insulation system

The installation benefits of Kingspan Kooltherm pipe insulation and insulated pipe-support inserts have been utilised in this Liverpool hospital project.
Using Kooltherm pipe insulation and insulated pipe-support inserts in the £80 million redevelopment project at Broadgreen Hospital in Liverpool has minimised the space taken up and reduced fixing costs. The savings arise from the thermal properties of Kooltherm rigid phenolic insulation requiring very low insulation thicknesses. In addition, using Kooltherm insulated pipe-support inserts ensured that a continuous vapour barrier was maintained and avoids problems such as heat loss through cold bridging. 40 000 linear metres of this pipe insulation were installed by Righton Insulation. The project includes a diagnostic and treatment centre that integrates consulting, imaging and surgery, along with a purpose-built cardiac centre. Consultants Hulley Kirkwood of Manchester produced a project specification with which the Kooltherm range of products complied.
