Leisure centre converts to Rinnai water heating

Windrush Leisure Centre in Witney, Oxfordshire, has replaced three poorly performing gas direct-fired water heaters with Rinnai Infinity continuous gas-fired water heaters. The three HDC1500 water heaters are on a secondary return system, so there is no need for storage.

The new water heaters were installed by W S Swift Services . Managing director Daniel Swift explains, ‘We installed the new system in another part of the building to the original plant room, thereby freeing up space for more changing facilities. The wall-mounted system was installed and prepared over 10 days, and then we swapped the whole thing over in one day.

‘The leisure centre is very happy with the Rinnai system and is reporting savings in gas charges, as well as better pressure and volume of water.

The previous water heaters were installed in the 1980s.

The Rinnai units shut down at 11.30 p.m. and start again at 5 a.m., ready for the leisure centre to open at 6 a.m. The heaters operate in sequence, so that only one will fire if there is only a small demand for hot water.

Stuart Wilson of West Oxfordshire District Council, who managed the installation approached Rinnai and area representative put him in touch with Daniel Swift, a trained installer.
