Kershaw wins major academic project

Kershaw Mechanical Services is to install M&E services into a new building for Cambridge Judge Business School, the 4-storey 4790 m2 Simon Sainsbury Centre. The new building will include lecture theatres, seminar rooms, office space, breakout areas and dining facilities.

The project is due to be completed in summer 2017 and is targeted to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Kershaw is working for SDC on the project.

The mechanical scope includes a basement plant room with air-handling, water-storage and distribution equipment, a rooftop area for chillers and air-conditioning units and, a full building-management system.

Trox Schoolair-V facade-mounted vertical heat-recovery units are being used for the first time on a building in the UK to provide ventilation to the upper floors.

Electrical works include solarPV to selected roof areas, LED lighting with daylight and occupancy control, fire alarms, data, security and access.
