National Library of Wales chooses Remeha boilers as replacements

Remeha gas-fired high-efficiency condensing boilers have been installed in two boiler plant rooms at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth to deliver space heating for Wales’s primary research library and archive. This replacement boiler plant comprises Gas 310 and 610 Eco Pro.

The building houses over 6.5 million books and periodicals. There is also a major collection of archives, portraits, maps and photographs — as well the Welsh national collection of manuscripts, paintings and topographical prints.

The effectiveness of the heating system is the key to achieving the environment and conservation standards needed to protect and conserve these valuable archives.

When the time came to replace the existing, failing boilers, the National Library was keen to reduce energy use and improve the reliability and resilience of the heat-generation plant — particularly in the boiler room for the stack room, which serves the critical cells where priceless collections and artefacts are stored.

The new boilers were specified and installed by Aber Heating. With two Remeha sectional boilers having been installed in a third plant room three years ago, also by Aber Heating, the National Library of Wales is now heated entirely by Remeha boilers.
