Halesowen school upgrades with Mikrofill

Following a dilapidation survey of Leasowes High School in Halesowen by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council inefficient LPHW and HWS equipment has been replaced. The existing atmospheric boilers were replaced with six Ethos 130 kW wall-mounted condensing boilers from Mikrofill to give system that can modulate from 780 kW down to 13 kW.

The hot-water requirement for the kitchen and main toilet block is supplied by an Extreme 500 l loading cylinder. Fed via an indirect primary circuit of 80/50°C, the loading cylinder optimises the boiler’s condensing mode and produces over 2500 l/h at 60°C.

A Mikrofill pressurisation package unvented the system.

The new system was designed by council engineers and installed by TDR Mechanical Services.

Rob Upton, Leasowes site manager, said, ‘The upgrade of the heating system is an integral part of the continuing improvements being made here at Leasowes High School. I would like to thank both Mikrofill Systems and Dudley Metropolitan Council for all their help during the design and installation phase. Collectively this has made a huge difference to the school.’
