Hot water, hot water, everywhere

Rinnai, domestic hot water, DHW, continuous flow water heater

The versatility of Rinnai’s range of gas-fired continuous-flow water heats is demonstrated by a variety of projects that includes hotels, a leisure park and — wait for it — a horse washer. There is no need to store hot water, and digital temperature control ensures the temperature of delivered water does not vary as outlets are tuned on and off. For safety, the water is cut off should the temperature rise by 3 K above the chosen set point.

Rinnai units have been installed at the 20-bed Brig of Orchy Hotel near to the West Highland Way near Glencoe in Scotland. This hotel has high occupancy rates all year round. Two HDC 1200i units meet the huge demand for hot water at peak times.

The de Vere Village Hotel in Warrington has six Infinity HD50i units, each capable of delivering 780 l/h of hot water at a 50 K rise. These water heaters can be installed in a manifold arrangement.

Rinnai water heaters are well suited to the widely varying demand of the Sunbourne Glan y Mor Leisure Park in west Wales — from 80 showers a day in peak season to as little as 10 off season. Owner Will Jones says, Before we rebuilt the shower block, we had an old system tank that went cold when demand was high. Now we have two HDC 1500i Rinnai heaters manifolded together so there is no problem of hot water running out at peak times and, importantly, no more complaints.’

A novel development is to heat water for the Ascot Hydra Horse Washer, an idea that came to Colin Davies, managing director of Ascot Hygiene, by a smaller electric dog-wash unit he had designed. Providing hot water for the bigger version is an Infinity 17e LPG unit.
