Skanska wins refurb contract in Old Street

Skanska

Skanska has won the £73 million contractor to refurbish 207 Old Street in London, a mixed-use development also known as The Tower. The contract was awarded by Helical. The building is part of a larger scheme called The Bower development on Old Street roundabout and will bring over 15 000 m2 of offices and 680 m2 of retail space to the area.

The building will be stripped back to its original frame, three new floors added and the floor plates extended by about 15%. New washrooms and two extra lifts will be installed.

The scheme is targeting the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ environmental rating, and work is expected to finish in June 2018.
