Grundfos proves energy-saving capabilities of pump replacement

Grundfos Pumps, replacement, survey

Grundfos Pumps’ approach to an FM company suggesting that it could benefit from energy checks on pump equipment in the various buildings it was responsible for maintaining coincided with the company having been asked to find savings beyond those already achieved on lighting and water use for a larger-size office block.

A survey was carried out on fixed-speed pumps that had been in situ for many years and reported that converting them to variable-speed replacements would reduce energy consumption by 45% and achieve a 1.7-year payback. Energy savings are 775 MWh a year.

Following the success of this project, the FM company has asked for more energy checks on other premises in its portfolio.
