Crane valves reach new heights

Hundreds of valves are being supplied by Crane for system balancing and isolation in what will be Britain’s tallest residential building.
Britain’s tallest residential building, the 47-storey Beetham Tower in Manchester, has its hydronic balancing and isolation requirements served by Crane Valves. At 150 m high, this glass-clad tower will be 30 m higher than the Barbican in central London. A futuristic glass-blade feature increases the overall height to 171 m. Crane Fluid Systems is supplying many hundreds of balancing and isolation valves for the plant rooms and chilled-water and heating systems. The tower will comprise a 285-bed Hilton Hotel taking up 23 floors. There will also be 219 apartments, including 16 penthouses, with views across Greater Manchester and as far away as Snowdonia, Blackpool and Liverpool.
