Online tool speeds up selection of FCUs

A simple web-based quick-selection tool for fan-coil units (FCUs) developed by Ciat can produce fast and accurate project quotes for designers and installers. Dramatic improvements in the efficiency of FCUs has boosted their popularity in recent years, and refurbishments of offices and commercial buildings dating from the 1970s and 1980s has generated demand as old systems are replaced.

For managing such projects, as well as installations in new builds, the sheer number and diversity of FCU options and designs can be confusing — potentially making it difficult to specify the right technology for a particular project. Ciat’s tool is designed to speed up selection and minimise errors in specifying equipment for a project. The tool can be used on a PC, laptop or smart phone.

The selection tool takes the user step by step through the process to produce a detailed list that can be plugged into the project design and cost. The list includes airflow, noise levels, cooling capacity, heating capacity, sensible duty, dimensions and power consumption.

At the end of the selection process, the user prints a summary and quote for the selected units. BIM icons are available for each FCU.
