Spirotech reaches greater heights in City of London skyscraper

Spirotech, water treatment dirt separators, vacuum degasser

Spirotech vacuum degassers and dirt separators have been specified for 100 Bishopsgate, a 37-floor office block in the City of London. This mixed-use building, with major pre-lets to major world banks, is being developed by global real estate investor Brookfield. The Spirotech equipment will have a key role to play in maintaining the condition of the water in the building’s heating and cooling systems, helping them to operate to optimum levels.

The contract is worth over £300 000 and was awarded by services contractor Michael J. Lonsdale. The building also includes 2800 m2 of retail space and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.

Vacuum degassers remove micro-bubbles of air and were specified by consultant Hilson Moran because the 181 m height of the building requires a higher level of efficiency.

Spirotech’s specification manager Stephen Simmons said, ‘As happens with mega-projects like this, the original designs go through a number of redesigns. We were able to work alongside the contractor, ensuring the vacuum degassers and dirt separators are in exactly the right positions and also providing value engineering by improving the design but at lower cost.’
