Extra care from Giacomini at London refurbishment project

Giacomini

Construction has begun to transform a disused day care centre into 60 apartments in the London Borough of Hillingdon to provide independent living for its older residents.

Giacomini UK is to design, supply and install 4000m2 of underfloor heating (UFH) over all floors, alongside 60 of its twin heat interface units (HIUs) with water and energy meters. The site will also feature Giacomini’s flow control valves to complete the package.

Giacomini is working with building service engineers, Heatcare. The underfloor heating manifolds and HIUs will be installed in a prefabricated unit, which contains the heating components and controls for each apartment within a compact cupboard. This not only looks more aesthetically pleasing for the resident but also increases quality control and reduces installation time.

Alistair Moore, national specification manager for Giacomini UK, commented: “Heatcare is a very reputable company and are experts at extra-care installations. We are delighted to work with them on this development so that we could offer HIU, flow control valves and UFH with design support all in one package. Couple this with Heatcare’s compilation of our products into a discrete prefabricated cupboard and I’m sure the developer and residents will be very happy.”
