Vapac electrode boiler supplies steam for Turkish baths

A Vapac electrode boiler has replaced an aging steam generator in Harrogate’s famous Turkish Baths. It provides a continuous supply of steam for the steam rooms, where temperatures top 45°C. The steam room itself has been renovated and features ceramic tiles and marble seats. The ceiling is coated with a special paint mix to prevent ingress of water into the fabric of the building. The Vapac unit is used for 12 h a day throughout the year. Because Harrogate’s water is very soft, the humidifier does not have to be fed from a water softener, nor do salts have to be added to enable it to reach boiling point. Indeed, the soft water keeps the humidifier’s cylinder cleaner, reducing maintenance costs. A cleanable cylinder is fitted, and it requires attention only every four to six months.
