Gilberts responds to Swiss Re challenges

Swiss Re building
Supply and extract grilles for the decentralised air-conditioning systems serving the Swiss Re building in London have been specially designed and made by Gilberts of Blackpool.
As part of the air-conditioning strategy for the Swiss Re building in London, Gilberts of Blackpool has designed and manufactured over a thousand circular swirl and special linear diffusers. Representing a £200 000-plus contract, the diffusers distribute conditioned air for the decentralised on-floor air-conditioning systems that are used to supplement the natural ventilation of this 180 m-high tower. Each of the 39 office floors of the 40-storey building near Liverpool Street Station has six fingers of accommodation. The 40th floor is a mezzanine level directly under the 18 m-high glass dome. It offers corporate entertainment for Swiss Re and its tenants. As well as supplying various sizes of standard GSF circular swirl diffusers for the ceilings and GFS supply and extract circular floor swirl diffusers for rooms with raised floors, Gilberts also designed and made of special linear diffusers and plenums to meet the architect’s non-standard requirements in the ‘halo core’ areas. All services were specified by M&E consultant Hilson Moran through contractor Skanska Rashleigh Weatherfoil. sales@gilbertsblackpool.com
