Ideal takes boilers to Newcastle

Replacement boilers from Ideal Boilers for a housing development in Newcastle have contributed to a 25 % reduction in the energy used by the heating plant.
The efficiency of boiler plant serving a housing development in Newcastle has been more than doubled following the replacement of the old plant with a system comprising two Ideal Super Plus boilers and two Imax Plus appliances on the one system. It provides 1530 kW of heat at an average efficiency of 95%, compared with 34% before. Ideal Boilers worked with Places for People, the housing and regeneration group, to improve energy efficiency for 242 apartments in the Clayton Street Housing Development. The boiler plant is complemented by two CHP units, which have a combined duty of 11 kW of electricity and 24 kW of heat. This electrical output is used to power the boiler plant, including circulating pumps, with the heat used by the heating and hot-water system. A new control system was also fitted. The combined effect of these works has been to reduce the energy consumed by the heating plant by 25%.
