Daikin invests in UK technology centre
Daikin Airconditioning UK has opened a technology centre at Woking, close to its headquarters in Weybridge. Among its functions is the promotion of technology inherent in current Daikin products, as well as new developments. Initially, these include the Altherma residential heating, hot-water and cooling system, the Conveni-pack approach to providing air conditioning and serving chilled and freezer displays in convenience stores, and water-cooled VRV air conditioning. The new technology centre also includes extensive hands-on training facilities for installers, as well as consultants, surveyors end users etc. Patrick Crombez explains that one of its functions is to help the industry understand the true value Daikin's product offering. A wide range of courses is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the latest developments in air conditioning, heat-pump, VRV, refrigeration, heating and heat recovery, as well as Daikin's suite of intelligent computerised control packages. Course can be tailored to specific customer requests, and basic course for apprentices are available to form a firm base for the understanding of advanced systems. Kamal Bhattacharayya, UK technical after-sales manager, says, 'The UK technology centre will enhance awareness of our advanced and innovative air-conditioning systems and help raise the quality of system design, installation and maintenance. For the benefit of all our clients, along with our other training sites in Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester, our target is to have 2000 engineers benefit from our training by the end of the year.
