Air-conditioning system delivers efficient heating for Methodist church

With no gas available, a Toshiba heat-pump air-conditioning system was installed to provide energy-efficient heating for this Methodist church in Gloucestershire.

Effective and energy-efficient heating for a village church in Gloucestershire is provided by an air-conditioning system — used purely for heating. Such is the efficiency of Toshiba’s Super Digital Inverter Split heat-pump system with a COP of over 4.0 at full capacity that it provided an effective replacement for electric radiant heaters in this Methodist church, which has no gas available. The system was suggested by local air-conditioning contractor Eesicool. The old system provided 30 kW of heating. The new system has an output of 35 kW delivered by two cassettes and a high-wall unit. £45 was saved during the first quarter after installation — despite the church heating now being used seven days a week as opposed with just Sunday previously. Other work included the replacement of windows having wood frames with double-glazed units. The project qualified a reduced VAT rate of 5%.
