CHP manufacturer passes 1000-unit milestone

The thousandth CHP unit to be made by Ener-G at its factory in Salford has been delivered to the London Borough of Enfield for installation in Edmonton Leisure Centre. The unit has an electrical output of 206 kW and brings the total of cogeneration capacity now delivered by the company to over 200 MW(e), which is estimated to have generated over 5000 GWh of electricity and reduced carbon emissions by 1.6 Mt. The company claims 37.5% of installed capacity in the UK for gas-engine CHP plant and 3.5% of total installed CHP in the UK— with 50 million hours of operating experience. Paul Hamblyn, head of market development, says, ‘This really is a remarkable achievement that everyone at Energ-G is proud of, especially the team at Ener-G Combined Power who made it all happen. ‘The statistics are hugely impressive by any standards, but they are also powerful evidence of the crucial role and significant impact cogeneration and other types of energy-efficiency solution are having in the battle to reduce emissions through smarter and more sustainable energy technologies.
