Carrier keeps up its sporting performance

Carrier
Al Sadd Sports Club in Doha is one of three of the five main stadia for the recent Asian Games for which Carrier supplied air-conditioning systems.
As a major supplier of air-conditioning equipment for the recent Asian Games in Doha, the capital of Qatar, Carrier systems were installed in three of the five main stadia. Carrier also supplied chillers for the Al-Hodaifi Olympic Committee administration tower. For the stadia, integrated Carrier systems included chillers, AHUs and fan-coil units. Five chillers, 28 AHUs and four fan-coil units were used to cool the indoor stadium at the Al-Rayyan Sports Club. This stadium has a capacity of 25 000 and hosted hockey and football. The same air-conditioning combination was used at Al-Gharrafa Sports Club, which hosted football and handball. Four Global chillers, 15 AHUs and over a hundred fan-coil units were used in the Al-Sadd Sports Club stadium, which hosted football and water polo. 45 teams participated in the games, which attracted over 750 000 spectators from all over the Middle East and Far East. There were 39 sports, and 33 world or Asian records were broken. These projects add to Carrier’s extensive experience in large sports arenas, including large proportions of the air conditioning in nearly all recent Olympic cities. At the Athens Olympics, air-conditioning equipment was remotely monitored by a Carrier system, and standby Carrier maintenance teams were on call.
