Services have sound logic

Clothworkers Hall
Services designed by the M&E division of consultants White Young Green will play a key role in maintaining sound quality of a full-size state-of-the-art concert organ in the refurbished Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall at Leeds University. The team from WYG was responsible for the design of the air-conditioning, ventilation, lighting and general M&E installations for this Grade II listed building. Particular attention was paid to acoustic conditions, including vibration and noise control. Grahame Kelly, regional director with WYG explains, ‘Although the function of the building has remained much the same, the main concert hall will be enhanced with the addition of air conditioning, automatic seating, stage lighting and sound systems. Ensuring the correct temperature and humidity of the hall is essential as it could affect the performance of the organ, but the suitability of the space for concerts and practice sessions is also enhanced.’
