Biggest-ever chiller order for Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls has reported its biggest-ever order for York chillers. 46 water-cooled chillers are destined for a project in Pearl Island, Qatar to cool 15 000 residential and commercial units. These chillers will deliver over 130 000 t of chilled water each day. Each has a cooling capacity of 8.8 MW and uses R134a. Delivery and installation of the chillers is expected to begin in December 2007 and continue through to May 2008. They will be shipped from San Antonio in Texas for installation in the world’s largest district-cooling chiller plant. Chilled water will be distributed through an underground network of pipes. The chillers could be faced with operating conditions as demanding as entering condenser water temperatures of 35°C and ambients of 50°C.
