Low Carbon Consultants scheme receives UKAS Accreditation

LCC
UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) has awarded personnel certification to CIBSE Accreditation for its Low Carbon Consultants Scheme. CIBSE Certification Ltd was established by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers early in 2007 specifically to offer certification services. The scheme currently covers building design, building operation and computer-based-simulation evaluation of the environmental performance of buildings and calculation of carbon-dioxide emissions. There are now over 600 people on the register, with a huge number of training courses still to take place over the coming months. The Low Carbon Consultants Scheme tests the competence of professionals and adds them to the register if they meet the acceptance criteria — giving their clients the reassurance that the design of their building is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and providing evidence to building control officers that compliance is being signed off by a suitably qualified professional. During 2008, the register will be extended to include non-domestic energy assessor accreditation, in response to the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations.
