Daikin is to launch a mini heat-pump version of its R410A air-conditioning by the summer. VRV-S operates on a single-phase supply and will be available in capacities of 11.2, 14.0 and 15.5 kW. A system can comprise nine indoor units and is appropriate for residential and light commercial applications. An important feature for residential application’s is a ‘night-set’ mode to reduce noise levels by 9 dB(A) for a 9-hour period. The mini VRV-S incorporates the same technical features as the larger VRV II, including an inverter-controlled scroll compressor with a DC reluctance motor that maintains high efficiency in the most frequently used mid to low settings. The 14 kW outdoor unit has a footprint of 320 by 900 mm. Maximum piping length is 120 m, total piping length is 300 m, and the maximum vertical difference between outdoor and indoor units is 50 m. The associated range of indoor units includes 2- and 4-way blow and 600 mm-square ceiling cassettes, ceiling-mounted corner, built-in ducted, ceiling-suspended, wall-mounted, floor-standing and concealed floor-standing models. A slimline 200 mm-deep ceiling-mounted duct-type indoor unit in six capacities from 2.2 to 7.1 kW brings the range up to 12 different models in 72 variants.
