Faber Maunsell gets first DEC assessor

Faber Maunsell consultant John Ogle has become the first energy assessor accredited to produce Display Energy Certificates and advisory reports in England and Wales, according to the Government’s central register.* DECs are a key requirement of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which also includes mandatory Energy Performance Certificates for all buildings, an inspection regime for air-conditioning systems and a new advice scheme for heating and hot-water systems. John Ogle says, ‘I am delighted to be the first registered DEC assessor in England & Wales. I am confident that these regulations will have a considerable influence on the way occupiers, landlords and the public understand the impact of energy use in buildings. The actual energy consumption of buildings will be recorded centrally. This should help us better understand the building stock and focus efforts on those sectors most in need.’
