MHI stars at Leicester’s new Curve Theatre
Leicester’s £61 million Curve Theatre has its cooling requirements served by a combination of splits and VRF systems from the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries KX4 range. They were selected by consulting engineers Arup.
This new building has the latest in theatre technology and includes two auditoria with a total of 1200 seats. There is also a production workshop, dance studio, audio-visual studio and three rehearsal rooms.
Temperature Control installed six KX4 VRF outdoor units with capacities from 14 to 80 kW. They are connected to 38 wall and cassette indoor units with a cooling capacity of 200 kW to serve dressing rooms, box office, theatre shop, audio-visual and sound studios, lighting and rigging areas.
Split systems are installed in the transformer room with MHI’s BGW BACnet gateway providing the interface for control and monitoring for the complete installation and linking it to the Curve’s BMS.
3D Air Sales, MHI importer/distributor, provided technical support and design advice to Arup from the MHI technical centre at Slough.
