Waterproof roof meets natural ventilation units
The intricate new roof of the 9300 m2 Canterbury Court office development in Dorking, Surrey, has been achieve using ICB’s Alwitra Evalon V single-ply roofing membrane.
During its redevelopment into modern and attractive offices, Canterbury Court received a new floor to create 3700 m2 of extra space. The work also included a state-of-the-art roof with a host of environmentally friendly features.
There is a roof garden, service plant, raised natural-ventilation units and a lower central platform — so the new roof posed a considerable challenge for the roofing contractor. The building also includes solar-thermal water heating and two wind turbines.
The Alwitra Evalon V membrane can be fully adhered using a range of special adhesives, as well as mechanically fixed, loose laid and ballasted. Alternatively, it can be supplied with a specially developed self-adhesive backing for flame/heat-free environments.
