London 2010 Olympics success for Dunphy

Dunphy multi-fuel burners are to be used throughout the energy centre of the site for the 2012 Olympic Games in east London.

The company is designing, making and installing eight dual-fuel TD640 burners for four twin-furnace boilers, each rated at 20 MW.

One boiler will be fired by biofuel supported by natural gas. The other boilers will be fired by natural gas and gas oil.

To achieve high energy efficiency and low emissions of CO2 and NOx, each burner will have Dunphy’s Ratiotronic 6000 digital combustion control system, variable-speed drives and oxygen trim.

This site-wide network supplied by the combined cooling, heat and power plant will be used to generate domestic hot water, building heating and heating for the aquatics centre.

Sharon Kuligowski, managing director of Dunphy, explains, Sustainability is the key focus of our design engineers, and our investment in the biofuel testing labs next to our main manufacturing plant in Rochdale has proved to be instrumental in enabling us to take a lead in this market.’
