Chilled beams are designed for health-care sector

Trox Chilled Beams

Trox Design Bureau has developed a range of chilled beams for the health-care market. They have features that make them an ideal hygienic solution and are easily maintained and cleaned without allowing room contaminants to migrate to and from the ceiling void or supply ductwork.

The NHS has published a set of rules about hospital ventilation, but their interpretation by health authorities varies. However, Trox can adapt these beams to suit the requirements of individual authorities.

The face hinges down to expose an isolation valve to the coil, enabling the coil to be removed for cleaning. The area behind the coil in the body of the beam is cleaned while the air is flowing, so it is under positive pressure.

There is also a hinged coil that be let down on a guide wire to an angle of about 45° for cleaning.

Chilled beams do not cause any condensation on the coil to allow dust and dirt to collect, an important hygiene feature.

Importantly, there is no need to disturb ceiling tiles.

All surfaces of these beams are smooth, and there are no sharp edges and no joints.
