Glow-worm enters heat-pump market

Glow-worm is strengthening its position in the renewable-technology market with the launch of the Clearly Heat Pump range of air-to-water heat pumps. Outdoor units use R410A and require just an electricity supply and heating flow/return connections. The refrigeration system is sealed.

The built-in hydraulic module comprises plate heat exchanger, circulation pump, expansion vessel, filter, pressure gauge, pressure-relief valve and air-bleed valve.

Soft start reduces the start-up current, and the multi-function hard-wired wall-mounted control with integrated single-zone programmer can be installed indoors, functioning as a room thermostat.

Maximum flow temperature is 55°C, although 45°C is preferred — so these heat pumps are best suited to underfloor heating or radiators sized for lower flow/return temperatures.

COP is up to 3.8. Clearly Heat Pumps are available in outputs of 8, 10 and 14 kW in a choice of five packs that include all the necessary key components for a heating system.

A 2-year parts-and-labour warranty is standard, activated from installation date.
