Wireless automatic meter reading

Radio-Tech, automatic meter reading

Radio-Tech’s low-cost automatic meter-reading transmitter provides walk-by and drive-by monitoring of energy and water use. Smartlog Ultralite provides an alternative to costly fixed networks and can extend the range of an existing system. These IP68-rated devices can be used above or below ground, including sub-metering. Firmware can be updated wirelessly.

The transmitter stores the pulse output from the meter pulse head or reed switch and transmits the total in a secure data package, with status indication and unique ID address, typically at 10 s intervals. Operating distance is up to 100 m and battery life is up to 10 years.

Applications include enforcing drought restrictions or applying block and seasonal tariffs. Smartlog Ultralite can monitor for leaks and provide daily consumption for accurate billing.
