Plastics replace glass in chemical drainage system
Warwick University has installed Durapipe’s Vulcathene chemical drainage system as part of a refurbishment of its science laboratories. The laboratories in the Centre of Analytical Science have undergone a complete refurbishment, including the replacement of a 50-year-old glass drainage system with a complete purpose-designed chemical-resistant plumbing system from Vulcathene.
The glass system needed replacing to enable this research facility to develop new scientific approaches that the old system could not withstand. The new system, in sizes up to 152 mm, was installed by Arthur Pollard Ltd.
Dave Randall, project manager with Arthur Pollard, explains, ‘You cannot compromise on safety in schools and universities, so when dealing with chemicals, you have to select the best on the market. Vulcathene has a proven history in educational establishments where toxic chemicals can be used on a daily basis, assuring us that it is the ideal choice for safe chemical drainage.’
